THE WORLD'S LARGEST TOURISM FAIR, WILL TAKE PLACE IN BERLIN WITH THE
PARTICIPATION OF TOURISM MINISTRY AND INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES

Monday, 5 March 2012, prior to his arrival at the fair, The Minister of Tourism
Stas Misezhnikov will inaugurate the
Warsaw Tourist Ministry Office and will hold meetings in Poland.
Against the background of the growth in
incoming tourism from Germany in 2011, the Tourism Minister, Stas Misezhnikov,
Director General Noaz Bar Nir, Ministry of Finance Budget Director, Gal
Hershkovitz accompanied by ministry representatives, will participate in the
world's largest tourism fair, ITB, which opens Wednesday, 7 March in Berlin and
will last five days. About 180,000 visitors, tourism representatives and journalists
from around the world are expected to participate in the five day fair in which
about 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries are expected to participate.
The Israel stand will be 770
square meters and Israel tourism industry representatives, including hoteliers,
tour operators, airlines, and representatives from tourism associations and
authorities will exhibit Israel’s tourism, vacation and leisure opportunities. The stand will feature performances by a drum band
"Jamin", playing unique instruments that are characteristic of
ancient Israel. The visitors at the stand will be able to view a 3D video
featuring a bird's-eye view of the country and the uniqueness of the Israeli street..
During 2011, about 221,000 visitors came to
Israel from Germany , an increase of 10% on 2010. Today Germany represents the
third largest source country for incoming tourism to Israel from Europe (after
Russia and France). The German tourist travels to Israel for fun and
entertainment, business or a religious pilgrimage, staying an average of 10
nights and spending about $1,200 throughout his visit.
The Israeli delegation for the ITB fair in
Berlin, headed by Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov, will visit Poland prior to
the fair where he will inaugurate the Warsaw Tourist Ministry Office. During
the ceremony that will be held on Monday, March 5th, the Minister of Tourism, together
with Poland's chief rabbi, Rabbi Michael Schudrich, will hang a mezuzah on the
front door of the office. The Minister will also hold meetings with Poland's
Minister of Tourism and Sport and travel agents, wholesalers and local tourism
officials, in order to strengthen the tourism ties between the countries and to
explore other means of cooperation.

Minister Stas Misezhnikov: “Since the cancelation of the entry visa to Israel
for Polish nationals in 2000 we have witnessed a substantial increase in the
number of Polish tourists to Israel. The establishment of the Warsaw office
will increase the exposure of Israel's tourism product, which the Polish market
perceives as a diverse, attractive and interesting tourism destination,
incorporating religion, history and culture. The Tourism Ministry will continue
its intensive marketing activities within the Polish market to significantly
increase incoming tourism from Poland in the upcoming years". |
