TOURISM MINISTER ATTENDS NRB, THE LARGEST CONVENTION OF CHRISTIAN MEDIA NRB (National Religious Broadcasters), the four-day international convention aimed at Christian media from around the world, is currently taking place in Nashville, Tennessee, USA with the participation of over 5000 Christian broadcasters from around the world. The Israeli stand, led by the Tourism Ministry, includes representation by companies in the Israeli tourism industry who operate in the Christian market. Within the framework of the fair, representatives from the Tourism Ministry and other tourism officials, will work to advance cooperation with tourism representatives and leading opinion-formers in the Christian world in order to increase incoming Christian tourism to Israel. During the fair, the Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov hosted about 1000 media representatives and Christian leaders to a festive. The delegation members will hold meetings with Christian leaders, opinion-formers, decision-makers and journalists in order to promote Christian tourism in general and Evangelical tourism in particular. Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov will also hold a round of meetings in the States and Canada with leaders of the Christian community in all its denominations as well as Jewish leaders, including President of the World Jewish Congress Ron Lauder and other entrepreneurs in order to encourage them to invest in the Israeli hotel industry. In addition, the minister will meet with journalists in Toronto, Montreal and New York, with members of the Russian-speaking communities in New York and Toronto which number in the tens of thousands. In keeping with the ministry’s target of 5 million tourists by the year 2015, the ministry is working to encourage investment from Israel and overseas in developing tourism initiatives in Israel. The minister will also meet with the owners of the Four Seasons hotel chain while in Canada and with international businessman Donald Trump in order to investigate investment possibilities. Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov: “Christian tourism to Israel, in all its denominations, represents one of the central anchors for incoming tourism to Israel and one in which the ministry focuses its marketing efforts. Given the stability in incoming tourism, the ministry will work to prepare for increased demand and, in the coming year, will place special emphasis on increasing cooperation with leading opinion formers and community leaders in the Christian world, real estate and tourism developers, in order to realize Israel’s unique tourism potential.”
